If you are versed with these old systems and config/autoexec, etc, I would like to hire you!!! Click on the Uninstall Launch and follow the instructions thereafter to incapacitate the U3 configuration part of the flashdrive to make the flashdrive in a regular USB storage device. The confusion results from the fact that both of these units are called "Cruzer Micro" drives and seldom referenced by actual part number. Unfortunately, they often do not come with drivers because Windows Me, 2000, XP and Vista all come with generic drivers already installed. So the XP-only requirement for the new SanDisk is not surprising.
